Application Information

The required documents listed below need to be uploaded as PDFs by the applicant.
  • A personal statement - 1 page describing their interest in the program, career goals, and how the program can benefit them.
  • Unofficial Undergraduate Transcript
  • CV/resume
  • Letter of Nomination: Submitted by the training co-mentors.
  • Co-Mentors' Training Plan: Mentors are required to create a training plan to help scholars develop individual projects that can lead to publication. This plan should recognize the career development time provided by MN PRIMED, which mandates that scholars dedicate a minimum of 75% of their time to research, based on their needs. Mentors should also assign a lab supervisor to support the scholar until they become more independent. The plan must include monthly one-on-one meetings to discuss research design, analysis, and progress. It should also outline plans for submitting an abstract and participating in a national meeting with the scholar each year, as well as a strategy for writing the manuscript and the frequency of lab presentations. Finally, mentors will work closely with the Scholar to prepare their application to graduate school, and this will be laid out in the training plan.
  • Project Description: 1-2 pages, to include background, hypothesis, specific aims, research strategy (significant, innovation, methods, expect outcomes, feasibility and pitfalls).
